Christopher B. - Entry #2

I wouldn’t say that I’m the person who is the most in need but I just wanted to share. I started my reef tank in June of last year; I had freshwater tanks all my life but always wanted to delve into saltwater and sitting at home during quarantine was the perfect opportunity. So I started my Fluval Evo with an ocellaris clown, and a wheeler goby. They were my deskmates and great at home work buddies. I soon became addicted to zoas and had some that began to spread. Deciding I wanted to take the next step I got myself a Duncan and hammer coral. They were thriving. I decided it was time to update my lights financially and invested in an AI prime which arrived the first week of February. So I set it up put on a screen lid and started acclimation mode with no idea about the winter storm coming. Well the storm came, I had rolling blackouts

for a day then no power for 72 hours. I started with blankets on the tank and manually aerating from time to time. I woke up on day 2 and the tank was so cold and the fish were already struggling. I had a friend down the street with power so in a last ditch effort I moved the tank. Unfortunately the fish were too far gone. But somehow my cleaner shrimp survived and I think my zoas are starting to bounce back. I’ve been amazed by the helpfulness of my local reefers. Offering free corals and even clownfish (from a breeder) and I’ve started to make a plan to get my little tank up and running full force again. I was so close to throwing in the towel but reefers in my area have me motivated to continue. Anyway please give this tank to someone who lost everything and really deserves it and thank y’all also for doing this. Love and Peace!
